Day 2, GIRLSTOWN (Sunday 12.08.2024) After breakfast we will leave for Chalco to spend the day with the girls. We will know the campus and learn more about the impressive life project and mission of Father Aloysius Schwartz, known as Father “Al”. Here, we celebrate Mass with the sisters and the girls, have lunch served and prepared by the sisters for us. In the afternoon return to Mexico City, dinner and overnight at your hotel. (BB, L, D) Day 3, TLATELOLCO - SHRINE OF OUR LADY- HISTORICAL CENTRE (Monday 12.09.2024) After breakfast we will stop at the Plaza of Three Cultures, which symbolizes the fusion of pre-Hispanic and Spanish roots into the Mexican mestizo identity. Tis plaza displays the architectural legacy of three cultural facets: the Aztec pyramids of Tlatelolco, the 17th-century Spanish Temple of Santiago Tlatelolco where St. Juan Diego was baptized and the modern tower that houses the University Cultural Center. Next, we will visit the Shrine of our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. This church has become one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Catholics, and its history dates back to 1531, when a devout, poor Indian man named Juan Diego (an Aztec convert to Christianity) received a vision of the Virgin Mary on Tepeyac Hill near what is now Mexico City. We will have a day full of spiritual experiences: kneel in front of the centuries old Tilma where Our Lady's image was miraculously printed, celebrate our private Mass, visit the Old Basilica, the Chapel of the Indians and the Chapel of the Well. After lunch, we will continue to the historical center and visit the Metropolitan Cathedral located on the Zocalo, the main square. Inside you will visit the Chapel of the Miraculous Cross of Poison. Originally made of white marble, the cross miraculously turned black from absorbing poison placed on it intended to kill the bishop who traditionally kissed the feet of the cross every day after mass. We will see the National Palace (from outside). This extraordinary palace has been occupied by the ruling class of Mexico since the Aztec Empire’s rule. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Mexico City. (BB, D) Day 4, PUEBLA (Tuesday 12.10.2024) After breakfast drive to the beautiful Puebla de los Angeles: one of the most beautiful Mexican colonial cities which was founded by the Spaniards in 1531 to shelter people who traveled from Veracruz to Mexico City. Sightseeing of its historic center, including the Church of Santo Domingo whose chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary is one of the most exquisite in all of Mexico, continuing to the Cathedral and the church of St. Francis of Assisi to view the body of Blessed Sebastian de Aparicio whose body remains Incorrupt until today. Lunch time followed by some time to shop in El Parian, a handcraft market where it is possible to find Puebla’s famous Talavera pottery. Return to Mexico City, dinner and overnight. (BB, D) Day 5, MEXICO CITY – TULPETLAC – TEOTIHUACAN (Wednesday 12.11.2024) After breakfast, transfer to the Church of the 5th Apparition in Tulpetlac, where the Blessed Virgin Maria de Guadalupe appeared to Juan Bernardino, Juan Diego's uncle. Here you can find a well of healing water which locals drink from. Following this visit, we will continue to San Juan Teotihuacan, one of the most powerful cultural centers in Mesoamerica, a prominent political and religious center with complexes of monumental buildings such as the Citadel and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, the Calzada de los Muertos and the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. A guided tour will reveal to you how the Aztecs used to work the obsidian stone and the multiple uses of the Maguey Plant, among many other interesting facts.Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (BB, D) Day 6, OUR LADY ANNIVERSARY (Thursday 12.12.2024) After breakfast, we will begin a day that will be in our minds and hearts forever!
